This job involved the repair of the drywall opening around a newly installed electrical panel (breaker box), followed by the application of matching wall texture.
The rough, damaged edges of the existing drywall around the recessed electrical panel were carefully trimmed and cleaned to create a stable, square opening for the repair. Supporting wooden backing were installed behind the existing drywall edges to provide a surface for securing the new patch pieces then new pieces of drywall were cut to size and securely fastened to the backing, fitting tightly around the electrical panel’s casing.
All seams between the old and new drywall, as well as the tight gaps surrounding the metal breaker box, were covered with fiberglass mesh tape or paper joint tape. Multiple coats of joint compound (mud) were applied over the tape and fasteners. The repaired area was treated with joint compound using the appropriate technique to match the texture of the surrounding wall surface.
Finaly, the texture was allowed to dry completely and painted. The work area was cleaned, ensuring no debris or mud was left on the floor or on the breaker box itself.
