This project involved the repair of a damaged section of the ceiling. The work included removing the compromised drywall, installing new insulation for thermal and sound control, and finishing the area to create a seamless, structurally sound surface.
The damaged section of the ceiling drywall was carefully cut out and removed. This was done by cutting back to the nearest ceiling joists to ensure a solid and stable base for the new repair patch and new insulation was cut to size to fit snugly between the ceiling joists.
A new piece of drywall was precisely cut to match the size and shape of the opening and the patch was securely fastened to the ceiling joists using drywall screws. All seams and screw heads around the new patch were covered with drywall joint tape. Three successive layers of joint compound were applied, allowing each coat to dry completely before applying the next.
The final coat was meticulously sanded until the surface was perfectly smooth and flush with the rest of the ceiling. Finally painted.
