- Repair
This project involved the removal of damaged molding and the custom installation of a small baseboard segment to restore a seamless transition at a wall return.
- Removed the existing compromised molding and cleared old adhesive and paint buildup from the wall surface to ensure a flush mount for the new piece. Evaluated the floor-to-wall clearance to ensure the new segment properly conceals the flooring expansion gap. Custom-cut a small segment of baseboard to match the exact width of the narrow wall return.
- Aligned the new piece with the existing vertical corner molding to maintain a continuous architectural profile.Secured the piece using fine-gauge finish nails to minimize surface impact while ensuring a permanent bond to the wall stud. Applied professional-grade painter’s caulk to the top edge and vertical seams to eliminate gaps and prevent dust accumulation.
- Prepared the new wood for final painting by filling nail holes and ensuring a smooth, paint-ready surface.
